Welcome

Our Holy Name Society at St. Andrew's, Kenmore, NY, is the men's spiritual, support and social organization of the parish. For the last 30 years we've supported the church, St. Andrew's Country Day School and their different needs while maintaining an active social calendar of monthly, informative meetings, bowling and golf leagues as well as a regular craft show and chicken BBQ dinners that help fund our charitable efforts in the parish.

Respect Life Crosses planted Tuesday, Oct. 4th

Members(L to R) Fredd Lupp, Ray Vorburger, Fritz Styka and Bill Bunny placed 200 white crosses in the lawn of St. Andrew's R.C. Church, Sheridan Dr. and Elmwood Ave. The crosses are symbolic of those children killed by abortion in the United States. The placement also marks the 30th anniversary of crosses that were planted in 1981 at the same location. Fritz and his late wife Florence were prime movers in the parish's Respect Life committee.

Crafters Wanted

We’re not trying to rush the season but the annual St. Andrew’s Holy Name Society Craft Show will soon be upon us on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011.

The good news is that we still have a few slots for more crafters and/or vendors. The doors open that Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and close at 3 pm. This show has been attracting very large crowds for more than 25 years and continues to have displays from many of the area’s top artisans and crafters.

If you are interested in presenting your wares at this prestige show please contact SAcraftshow@gmail.com.

Thanks and we look forward to seeing on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011.

Sports Round Table Review

It was a lively give and take of opinions especially when talking of the Buffalo Bills and the Buffalo Sabres last night as WBEN-TV sports personalities John Murphy, Paul Peck and Mike Courtney eagerly answered our group's questions for well over an hour. Following the discussions Bill Sobczak's famous "Billy Burgers" sated our stomachs along with appropriate beverages. Thanks Bill and Marshall Bill Lembke for making it quite a groaning board of food.

Ladies, Give Yourself A Valentine's Day Present

Ladies, give yourself a Valentine's Day present on Monday, Feb. 14th and send your husband to the annual Holy Name Sports Roundtable discussion at 7:30pm. He'll be out of your hair for a few hours and come home educated, happy and fed. We'll have the usual crew of WBEN-TV sports reporters John Murphy and Paul Peck along with WBEN sports producer Mike Courtney. Topics will run the gamut from the Super Bowl winners & losers, Sabres, baseball and college basketball. Our pastor, Msgr. Richard Siepka, says he even has a soccer question.

Upcoming Meeting Jan. 10th, 2011

Plan on attending our Jan. 10th, 2011 general meeting when local historian and WBEN Radio newsman Steve Cichon gives an audio and visual presentation on most of the past businesses in Downtown Buffalo. There's bound to be some great memories being raised when you see his photos. Steve was recently named to WNY's "40 Under 40" list of most influential people in the area. It's a can't miss night!

I'd bring my copy of Steve's "Complete History of Parkside" to autograph but he already did.
See you there!
